

It can add icons next to each file based on the file type, print a small report on the contents of the director after it prints the contents themselves, and other.

To be fair, bash has its own framework called bash-it that you can check out if interested. But Zsh (z-shell) supports some really cool features like auto completion of command and files, typing error correction and more. It supports themes, plugins, auto-updating, etc.

On Linux, I use Guake Terminal and Gnome Terminal the most, although I’ve played around with Terminator. Guake is a top-down terminal for Gnome (in the style of Yakuake for KDE, Tilda or the terminal used in Quake).
Iterm guake install#
At first we have to install and run the iTerm2, an open-source replacement for macOS Terminal tool. There’s no macOS version of it but luckily there’s a way to get terminal with similar behaviour on macOS. Sometimes its easier to hammer out a shell command than it is find the right context menu or menu item to click to do something. One of them is Guake a drop-down terminal tool. So if you’re on Ubuntu, just install it with apt. What I look for is to be able to open the command line in any monitor with a simple CTRL + SPACE shortcut.
Iterm guake mac#
I use the terminal to do quite a bit on both my Mac laptop and Linux desktop. Install Guake When I worked with MacOS, I used iTerm2, but now on Linux I am using Guake as my default terminal.
